Floodwater release bulletin

At Noon on Friday, June 20:

• Grand Lake elevation was 751.51 feet.
  
• Grand Lake flood pool was at 61.90 percent capacity.
  
• At the direction of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, one (1) floodgate was open at Pensacola Dam, discharging 681 cubic feet per second (cfs) of water.
  
• Six (6) units were online at the Pensacola Dam powerhouse, releasing 13,924 cfs of water through generation.
  
• Releases through floodgates and generation totaled 14,605 cfs.
  
• Inflows into Grand Lake totaled 15,917 cfs.

• Lake Hudson elevation was 631.87 feet.
  
• Lake Hudson flood pool was at 69.72 percent capacity.
  
• No floodgates are open at Robert S. Kerr Dam
  
• Three (3) units were online at Robert S. Kerr Dam powerhouse releasing 22,410 cfs of water through generation.
  
• Inflows into Lake Hudson totaled 25,119 cfs.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers has issued new crest predictions for Grand Lake and Lake Hudson. Grand is expected to crest at 752.80; Hudson at 632.30. Dates and times are to be determined.

The Grand River watershed consists of approximately 12,000 square miles of runoff in parts of Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Of that total, over half—7,000 square miles—is uncontrolled runoff, meaning there is no reservoir to control it above the Pensacola Dam. However, the remaining 5,000 square miles of runoff passes through the John Redmond Dam, located near Burlington, Kansas, prior to reaching the Grand River system in Oklahoma.
