GRDA discharge at Grand, Hudson- February 17 2 PM update

In response to a directive from the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), the Grand River Dam Authority begun added discharge of the Grand Lake conservation pool yesterday, Tuesday, February 16. This action was intended to provide for additional electric generation in the SPP footprint during this time of extreme and ongoing winter weather conditions.
GRDA has completed the process of closing east spillway floodgates at Pensacola Dam, with one gate remaining open per standard operating procedure. Inflows continue to unavailable due to icing issues.
At 2 PM on Wednesday, February 17:
- Grand Lake elevation was 741.25 feet.
- One (1) east gate was open, discharging 17 cubic feet per second (cfs) of water.
- Six (6) units were online at the Pensacola Dam, releasing 13,631 cfs of water through generation.
- Releases through generation and floodgates totaled 16,648 cfs.
- Lake Hudson elevation was 615.10 feet.
- Four (4) units were online at the Robert S. Kerr Dam, releasing 19,710 cfs of water through generation.
The public is advised that this reduction in reservoir elevations could impact boat docks located in shallow waters and could have other impacts, such as increased areas of navigation hazards.
