GRDA Police offer safe boating, floating reminders ahead of Memorial Day Weekend

Visiting the Illinois River or a GRDA Lake for Memorial Day Weekend? The GRDA Police reminds you to float and boat safe, smart, and sober. To help you stay safe, they are sharing some important tips to keep in mind when you get on the water

Looking forward to Memorial Day Weekend and the busy summer boating and floating season on the water? If so, the Grand River Dam Authority Police Department wants to remind you of some important information that can help promote a safe time on the water.

“We know thousands of people are planning to visit our waters over the long holiday weekend and we encourage them to do so,” said GRDA Corporate Spokesperson Justin Alberty. “We just want them to make safety a priority, to help promote a safe, enjoyable outing.”

Whether visiting GRDA’s Grand Lake, Lake Hudson, or the scenic Illinois River, it is important to remember that enjoyable outings always start with boating – and floating – safe, smart, and sober.
