GRDA Police Department offers boating tips, safety reminders ahead of July 4 holiday

As we draw near to the long July 4th weekend and the busiest time of the year for area lakes and rivers, the Grand River Dam Authority Police Department reminds everyone to boat and float safe, smart, and sober when they visit the water.

Due to recent heavy, historic rains across the region, many lake levels, including GRDA’s Grand and Hudson, will be above normal elevations during the holiday. However, large crowds are still expected to visit the waters as part of their holiday celebrations.

“There is plenty of room for everyone to visit the beautiful waters we have here in Northeast Oklahoma,” said GRDA Corporate Spokesperson Justin Alberty. “We just encourage them to play safe, watch out for others, and use common sense while boating and floating.”
